Ming Shi is a lead materials engineer in Material Engineering of body structures and closures of General Motors. He is responsible for sheet metals material specifications, supplier material qualifications and new material developments and implementations within GM. Ming brings >30 years of experience in automotive steel applications technologies developments and implementations. He has authored and co-authored more than 90 technical papers and 20 patents/Trade Secret in the various areas of sheet metal applications. Dr. Shi received his B.S. in engineering mechanics from Hohai University in Nanjing, China and his M.S. and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and engineering mechanics from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan.
